چکیده
Numerical simulations of the flow surrounding particle agglomerates were carried out using computational fluid dynamics to assess ability five RANS turbulence models estimate drag coefficient in agglomerates. Simulations steady conditions for Reynolds numbers between 1 and 1500. Streamlines showed that symmetrical present a velocity profile similar single sphere profile. Results both Spalart-Allmaras SST k-? can represent not only regions near far from walls but also wake region rear The RNG model poor quality predict coefficient. obtained by presented trend better represented Tran-Cong model, showing deviations predictions decreased as packing density agglomerate increased. use be feasible efficient method predict, with low cost, For transition turbulent flows, results good agreement, -15% 13%, while lower numbers, varied -25% 5%.

15 صفحه اولNumerical study of collisional particle dynamics in cluster-induced turbulence
We present a computational study of cluster-induced turbulence (CIT), where the production of fluid-phase kinetic energy results entirely from momentum coupling with finite-size inertial particles. A separation of length scales must be established when evaluating the particle dynamics in order to distinguish between the continuous mesoscopic velocity field and the uncorrelated particle motion. ...
متن کاملImpact of Breaking Wave Form Drag on Near-Surface Turbulence and Drag Coefficient over Young Seas at High Winds
The effects of breaking waves on near-surface wind turbulence and drag coefficient are investigated using large-eddy simulation. The impact of intermittent and transient wave breaking events (over a range of scales) is modeled as localized form drag, which generates airflow separation bubbles downstream. The simulations are performed for very young sea conditions under high winds, comparable to...
متن کاملDrag Force Simulations of Particle Agglomerates with the Lattice-Boltzmann Method
In this work we show, that the Lattice Boltzmann method is capable of calculating the drag force on spheres with a sufficient accuracy. The main interest lies on laminar flows around nano particle agglomerates. To give an overview over the simulated force accuracy the results are compared with analytical solutions. Thereby the benefit from curved boundary treatments such as [YD03] and [PL03] is...
متن کاملa study on thermodynamic models for simulation of 1,3 butadiene purification columns
attempts have been made to study the thermodynamic behavior of 1,3 butadiene purification columns with the aim of retrofitting those columns to more energy efficient separation schemes. 1,3 butadiene is purified in two columns in series through being separated from methyl acetylene and 1,2 butadiene in the first and second column respectively. comparisons have been made among different therm...
